Yesterday was a truly special day in our history. The #BSLBill passed its third reading in the House of Lords, meaning it will be legally recognised as a language. This year, students at the Deaf Academy have been campaigning for their rights as Deaf people. The legal status will require the government and private organisations to uphold standards of accessibility. There are so many reasons why...

Perfect response when you hear “English or Spanish?”
😂
Hi Claire❤
I work as a Santa on a UK Polar Express. Occasionally we get a deaf person on board. I would like to know some useful phrases related to Christmas. How are you; Its cold at the North pole; the names of all the different reindeer. etc. I'm currently learning how to sign the song "Jingle Bells". There seems to more than one way to sign this. Any other phases that you could suggest would be welcome. We don't have long with each person so just the basics please. Thank you.

طرق الصيام في شهر رمضان المبارك بلغة الاشارة, Ways to fast the holy month of Ramadan in sign language 🕌🌙 ua-cam.com/users/shortsYvAn7sq2YAA?si=PFOIkOljXFK3zmhR
Six years on from your original moment and I’m still sat here confused too!
thanks! I’m learning to become a doctor and want to make sure I can communicate with all of my patients
I am learning this as I have customers that come to my till who are deaf and I want to be able to greet them.
thanks
Always appreciated. Are there different signs in BSL for 'can I' (or 'can you') and 'may I' (or 'may you') please?
There are four 4️⃣ different types of deafness 🧏 🧏♀️ 🧏♂️ are mild, moderate, severe and finally profound 🧐. I have moderate hearing loss in both ears 👂 👂 that I’ve worn hearing aids 🦻 🦻 since 1980 for 43 years. 👍
Plenty of people do sign language 🤟 everyday is because they are profoundly deaf 🧏 🧏 in one ☝️ or both ears 👂 👂. I honestly remembered that when I watched Westcountry Live on ITV that a profoundly deaf 🧏♀️ 🧏♀️ girl 👧 was doing sign language 🤟 because she has limited amount of normal hearing in both ears 👂 👂 that it happened around in the year 1998 is over 25 previous years ago in late ⏰ 2023. She’s a very sweet girl 👧 who has profoundly hearing loss in both ears 👂 👂. 👍👍👍
#lovebsl
This happened in Exeter, Devon in the southwest of England 🏴 on Wednesday 15th of June 2016 is 7 previous years ago. 👍
Most people are profoundly deaf 🧏 🧏 in both ears 👂 👂 is because it happens. People who are profoundly deaf 🧏♂️ 🧏♂️ in both ears 👂 👂 wear a radio 📻 aid to help them to hear 👂 👂 in both ears 👂 👂 and it’s called cochlear implants. My hearing loss is moderate hearing loss in both ears 👂 👂 . When I go to bed 🛌 fast 💨 asleep 😴 💤 , I take my hearing aids 🦻 🦻 out of my ears 👂 👂 and sleep 🛌 😴 💤 with my ear 👂 touching the pillow because my hearing is worse on the left ear 👂 than my right ear 👂. My hearing loss is around perhaps 🤔 60% and normal hearing is 40%. Somewhere around the late ⏰ 1990s, a pretty 😍 profoundly deaf 🧏♀️ 🧏♀️ girl 👧 had worn a radio 📻 aid and had done ☑️ her sign language 🤟 with both of her hands 🙌. Poor profoundly deaf 🧏♂️ 🧏♂️ girl 👧 has her hearing loss is around perhaps 🤔 95%. She’s very sweet ❤️. It happened is probably a school 🏫 for the deaf 🧏♀️ 🧏♂️ 🧏 in perhaps 🤔 could be in Exeter, Plymouth or any of other places in the counties of Devon, Cornwall or Somerset. I think 🤔 that the girl 👧 with the ponytail who is wearing hearing aids 🦻 🦻 is perhaps 🤔 profoundly deaf 🧏♂️ 🧏♂️ in both ears 👂 👂 . There are four different types of hearing loss is mild, moderate, severe and finally profound 🧐. The worse hearing loss is profound 🧐. These things happen in life. When deaf 🧏♀️ 🧏♂️ 🧏 people cross ❎ the roads and the railway 🚃 level crossing, they must stop 🛑, look 👀 and finally listen 👂 👂 to incoming vehicles 🚗 on the roads and trains 🚂 🚆 🚊 on the railway 🚃 track 🛤️ otherwise they could be killed or injured 🤕 and perhaps 🤔 it could serve them right. Never 👎 wear hearing aids 🦻🦻 when swimming 🏊♀️ 🏊♂️ 🏊 , having a shower 🚿 🧼 , bath 🛀 🛁 🧼 and finally sleeping 🛌 😴 💤 in bed 🛌 because they can seriously 😐 damage the hearing aids 🦻 🦻 and I am not joking 🙃. This picture is seen in 2016. 👍 👍
Anyone else here for when things get uncomfortable
Thanking you both beloved British sisters.
Using this whenever a guy on the street tells me I'm sexy then yells at me for not saying thank u.
going to learn this so i dont have to talk to the people selling things at the mall
Always wanted to learn it and now my work place has 3 def people i want to help them feel more at ease by trying to learn basic stuff first.
For someone like me who don't know a lot of ASL is hard to make the movement of her hands she's too far, I need to see her hands closer. That would help a lot .
Yeah I hate that too. They do it so quick and expect you to just get it 😢
Well, this proves that the last 40 odd years were a disastrous experiment when Deaf Schools were closed down for the Utopian ideal of "Mainstreaming" That's 40 years destruction of Deaf education for no sane reason at all (other than to save money)
Ive seen sign languages be useful if you need to talk over distance or across a noisy road etc. It comes in handy to know.
Should've been closed down years ago, but they just moved to a new area. Shocking place run by idiots.
No good for me, im reading the words and missing the sign
I think that was drink and thank you not please ?????????????????????
This is BSL, not ASL
Im here
@jackie smith she already has
i learned a good bit of sign language when i was in early teens when started Secondary school ,my best friend mother was deaf and mute did not learn every word but could hold my own in conversation ,what was amazing my friends mum and dad signed with 1 hand only to each other and so fast i could not keep up was great to see lv sign language
Why don't you put subtitles on the videos you uploaded today?
Too fast, can’t see the sign clearly.
I have a postman that is deaf and I'm trying to learn how to ask how the dude is, and trying - emphasis on trying - to communicate with him in general. These short and concise videos are really helpful. It's gonna take a while. A long while. Thank you.
#loveBSL
Helpful stuff. Although I've seen other sign videos where they show the movement 3-4 times. As someone learning I need to watch it several times and it can be tedious to keep going back on the video. Otherwise good stuff thanks
thanks! i'm starting work experience at a special needs school tomorrow, my friend works there and says that there's a few deaf kids. i wanted to be able to at least introduce myself if they didn't have a hearing aid
This is a useful skin for avoiding social interactions, bookmarked
this video helped me so much
Sign good morning
